"The impoverished beginnings
that led this protagonist to a
celebrity status was a dream for
her from childhood and she
was successful because she
never lost sight of her goal.
That is a lesson for all of us. I
have read the summary and the
first chapter to her next novel
from her website, and am
greatly looking forward to the
passionate storyline of the
Lakota people in that historic
fiction." — Amazon.com

In her new novel, Crossing Burning Bridges, Author Cyndie M. Styles reveals the rags to
riches account of actress Jordan Melanie Walsh. Her life tells the story of a woman who
through loss and love risks everything to protect certain people, whether they deserve it or
not, the people she calls family.
Throughout life, Jordan struggles to overcome the damage her swindling father causes her
financially and the neglect of her alcoholic mother, as she moves up the social ladder
becoming a celebrity. Along her way, she learns real family concepts like trust and security
through her interactions with her grandparents, her brother and her uncle.
In her early adult life Jordan finds love, but a week before her wedding her fiancé
suspiciously disappears, plunging her into despair. After years of mourning, a chance
encounter presents the opportunity for Jordan to build her own family. Seemingly finding
happiness, Jordan is presented with a ghost from her past. She is torn between her desire
for passion and her need for security.
Unexplainable accidents start happening with increasing frequency to the people in Jordan's
life. The fact that Jordan’s finds out she is the illegitimate daughter of a powerful man with
designs on the presidency in the same time frame is too much to be coincidence. Having
power of her own, Jordan is forced to take matters into her own hands to protect those
she loves.
Crossing Burning Bridges is a story of loyalty and love, of loss and acquisition. Cyndie M.
Styles tells of people's choices and the consequences of their decisions that are not only
dangerous but could possibly result in death.

"In the mountains and skies beats a heart of one warrior. A Lakota warrior left to live without
his sacred lands and family. This is his story of despair, hope, love, and eventual discovery of
the true warrior/man left inside of him. Snakes in Paha Sapa is writing from the heart by
author Cyndie M. Styles. It is romantic, thought provoking, lovingly detailed, and extremely
well written. This reviewer found this novel to be profoundly refreshing and engaging to read!
The ending of this story marvelously completes this tale of love between a Lakota warrior and
a White woman, and how their lives play out." — Janalee, LoveRomances.com

"More than a Western...more
than a romance. This story of
the native Americans' struggle
for their rights living in this
land is fully outlined in this
book." — Amazon.com reviews
"Snakes in Paha Sapa is a most impressive second novel. In terms of subject matter, it is much
different from Styles' earlier Crossing Burning Bridges, yet it retains the author's wonderfully
flowing writing style, truly proves her standing as a natural storyteller, and amplifies the
bedrock of very real emotions she manages to instill in virtually all of her characters. This is
also a very educational novel for those of us who have never really explored the plight of
Native Americans deprived of their land by a treacherous and sometimes exceedingly harsh
American government. With its formidable mix of historical fiction, Western, and romance,
Snakes in Paha Sapa makes for a wonderful, genre-crossing read." — Daniel Jolley,
Amazon.com reviewer
"Another fabulous novel by Cyndie M. Styles! A well thought-out synopsis of how the Indians
were treated in the past and even in current day. It is the Indian's version of "Gone with the
Wind," where a fictional story surrounds a dark time in our history." — Amazon.com reviews
